Ray was one of the organizers of the Veterans and First Responders Club in Solera. As a veteran himself he is familiar with the camaraderie which exists among former service people and he also recognizes the importance of non-military first responders who are engaged in protecting and caring for the civilian population in our local communities. He uses his garage as a warehouse for contributions to the U.S. Vets. Every couple of weeks he packs his car to capacity with donations, with no room for a passenger, and he ferries the donations to the U.S. Vets Center in Las Vegas.
Ray also volunteers for special events at the Boulder City Veterans Home, sells poppies for the Jewish War Veterans on Veterans and Memorial Day, helps organize the flag raising events at the Solera Clubhouse and transports his neighbors to doctor appointments.
Ray was also a member of the group that started NAN back in 2009. For all of these reasons, we are proud to select Ray Carvajal as NAN’s Volunteer of the Year.
