Jack graduated from UCLA in 1962, majoring in business. He was licensed as a Certified Public Accountant in both California and Maryland. He is a retired member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Mr. Silas was an associate member of the American, Los Angeles, Beverly Hills, and Washington DC Bar Associations.
He was the founder of the California Society of CPA’s Micro-Computer Users Group, co-founder of the Beverly Hills Bar Association’s Law Practice Management Section and past program chairman for the Los Angeles chapter of the California Society of CPAs Marketing Committee.
Jack was a member of Rotary International for more than 40 years and in 2005 was named Rotarian of the Year in the Green Valley Rotary Club. He is a Paul Harris Fellow and an active member of the Rotary International’s RV Fellowship since 1987.
While still living in Los Angeles he served on the Board of Trustees for Santa Monica College and was instrumental in forming an after-school tutoring program for the student athletics. While a student at Santa Monica College he was a defensive back on their 1958 undefeated National Championship Football team and, along with others, was inducted into the college’s Hall of Fame.
