A Message from Our President & CEO

March was a remarkable month in many ways. We were honored to receive the 2026 Nonprofit Impact of the Year award from the Henderson Chamber of Commerce. This recognition reflects the strength of our community and the impact we are able to make together.

We received the gift of a new delivery van through the incredible support of the Christopher Smith Foundation and the Troesh Family Foundation, whose generosity reflects a deep understanding of the growing need in our community and a willingness to step forward to meet it. This addition enhances our ability to deliver essential medical equipment to seniors throughout the Las Vegas Valley.

And while these moments are meaningful, what stays with us most are the individuals we serve.

A recent call we received was from a 78-year-old senior who had just returned home from the hospital. He was grateful to be home, but weak, unsteady, and unsure how he would manage on his own. The equipment he needed had not been approved by his insurance, leaving him questioning whether he could safely remain at home.

This is not an isolated situation. We speak with many seniors each day facing the same uncertainty.

A simple piece of equipment, a walker, a wheelchair, or a shower chair, can restore confidence, prevent a fall, and make it possible for someone to remain safely at home.

And just as important, a simple phone call through our HowRU program can provide reassurance and remind someone they are not alone.

Because of the generosity of our donors, volunteers, and community partners, we are able to respond quickly when seniors need us most. As demand continues to grow across the Las Vegas Valley, so does our commitment to meet it.

As we prepare for our upcoming 22nd Annual Star-Spangled Golf Tournament, our largest fundraiser of the year, we are reminded that it is the support of our community that makes this work possible and keeps us going. You can make a difference by participating in our online auction, which will be announced at the end of April.

Together, we are building a stronger, more connected community, one where seniors are supported, valued, and never forgotten.

With gratitude,

How long have you been with Foundation Assisting Seniors?

"When I bought my house in Solera at Anthem in 2020 my address light was out and I learned that the Foundation Assisting Seniors (FAS) could help with that! I promptly called for help, the phone was answered by a nice man who said he could help, and that he would be right over to fix my light. When he arrived he introduced himself as the founder of FAS and suggested I volunteer for them....and so my journey began."

What do you love most about volunteering?

"I love volunteering because it provides opportunities to help others, and I find that very satisfying. Creative problem solving is very satisfying, at least for me!"

What is your favorite part about helping Seniors?

"My favorite part about volunteering for FAS is that they focus on helping Seniors and our Veterans, whose resources are sometimes limited, leaving them feeling helpless. Much of the time we can provide them with items they need to make their life more comfortable and safe."

What is something people might not know about you?

"Over the past 20+ years I have volunteered for a variety of organizations and the Foundation is my favorite. The people that make it happen are awesome!!"

How long have you been with Foundation Assisting Seniors?

"I have now been with the Foundation Assisting Seniors for over a year and look forward to helping seniors every day. It’s wonderful being part of a team that is dedicated and shares the journey in making a difference."

What do you love most about your job?

"I love that the organization is here to help seniors in need of durable medical equipment. As a caregiver for a senior parent, this is a great resource, especially for times when their insurance doesn’t provide the necessary equipment at all, or at a reasonable price, or in a timely manner."

What is your favorite part about helping Seniors?

"My favorite part is hearing stories of how much the equipment we provide helps seniors in our community. Whether it’s a caregiver who picks up the companion wheelchair so they can transport their family member to doctor appointments or a spouse who will get a hospital bed delivered so their spouse can be discharged from a hospital, to a senior who needs a rollator so they can continue to move about independently in their own home, it’s wonderful knowing we helped them achieve a sense of peace."

Anything else you like people to know about working here?

"Another great service we office is the HowRU Wellness Check program that is available to seniors living alone. It is a free daily wellness call that ensures those who are living alone are safe and comfortable."

A Moment of Impact

Recently, a family arrived at our office seeking help after their mother had been discharged from the hospital. She urgently needed both a walker and a wheelchair.

Within minutes, our team was able to provide the equipment she needed. The relief on the family’s faces was immediate.

Moments like these remind us why this work matters—access to the right equipment at the right time helps seniors remain safe and independent at home.

Expanding Our Ability to Serve Seniors – A New Delivery Van Strengthens Our Community Infrastructure

Template (1).png

Foundation Assisting Seniors is proud to introduce a new delivery van that will help expand our ability to provide essential medical equipment to seniors throughout the Las Vegas Valley.

Reliable transportation is a critical part of the foundation’s infrastructure. Each day our team delivers hospital beds, wheelchairs, walkers, shower chairs, and other equipment that allow Seniors to recover safely and remain safe and independent at home.

This delivery van was made possible through the extraordinary generosity of the Christopher Smith Foundation and the Troesh Family Foundation, whose partnership fully funded the vehicle.

The vehicle will soon receive the foundation’s branding and begin traveling throughout the Las Vegas Valley delivering essential medical equipment to seniors in need.

Looking Ahead

Foundation Assisting Seniors continues to see growing demand for medical equipment across the Las Vegas Valley.

With the help of our donors, volunteers, and community partners, we will continue expanding our ability to help Seniors remain safe and independent at home.

Did You Know?

Many seniors believe their insurance will cover the medical equipment they need after surgery or hospitalization. Unfortunately, this is often not the case.
