At the Heart of What We Do

A Monthly Newsletter from Foundation Assisting Seniors

Volume 1, Issue 1, February 2026

A Message from Our President & CEO

February is often associated with hearts and love, which feels especially fitting as we reflect on the compassion and care that guide our work each day at the heart of the Foundation Assisting Seniors. Our purpose is simple yet powerful: caring for seniors when they need support most.

Every day, we see how small acts of kindness make a meaningful difference — a hospital bed delivered just in time, a reassuring phone call, a volunteer showing up with patience and compassion. These moments may seem simple, but to the seniors we serve, they mean everything.

Since stepping into the role of President & CEO last July, I have been deeply honored to serve alongside a remarkable team of staff, volunteers, and supporters who live this mission every day.

For more than 20 years, this work has been possible because of the generosity of our donors and supporters. Every piece of equipment provided and every moment of reassurance we offer is made possible entirely through charitable support. Throughout 2025, from our annual Golf Tournament to Giving Tuesday and the holiday season, we continue to be reminded just how generous and caring this community truly is, and how strongly you believe in our mission.

As we move forward, our commitment remains unchanged. We will continue to meet each request with dignity, care, and urgency, guided by compassion and strengthened by community.

If you ever find yourself nearby, we invite you to stop in, see our work firsthand, and meet the team behind the mission.

This newsletter is one more way we hope to stay connected, share our impact, and thank you for walking alongside us.

With heartfelt appreciation,

Community Support in Action

As part of their annual client celebration, Thurlow Wealth Management marked 33 years in business by bringing their clients together for an evening of connection and gratitude. We were honored to share in that evening and deeply thankful that the auction held during the event raised more than  $12,000 , with all proceeds donated to the Foundation Assisting Seniors in support of our mission, an amount that was generously matched, doubling the impact of the evening.

Support like this strengthens our ability to respond when seniors and caregivers need help most, allowing us to provide free medical equipment, daily wellness checks, and compassionate support without delay or barriers. We extend our sincere thanks to Tony and Caprice Thurlow for their leadership, generosity, and ongoing commitment to giving back to our community.

Extraordinary Community Support from American Public Works Association (APWA)

We are thankful to the American Public Works Association (APWA) for selecting Foundation Assisting Seniors as one of the charities they supported during the holiday season.

Their generous donation of  $16,129  will help ensure seniors throughout the Las Vegas Valley have timely access to hospital beds, walkers, wheelchairs, and other essential medical equipment when needed most.

Support like this represents more than a financial contribution. It reflects trust, partnership, and a shared commitment to caring for our community. We are sincerely appreciative of APWA’s generosity and their belief in our mission.

A Knight We Will Never Forget

On January 3rd, Foundation Assisting Seniors was recognized as the Nonprofit of the Night at a Silver Knights hockey game held during Veterans Recognition Night.

Surrounded by 95 incredible supporters, we were acknowledged in front of thousands of fans for the work we do every day to help seniors throughout the Las Vegas Valley remain safe, supported, and independent in their homes.

Standing together in that moment was deeply meaningful, not only because of the recognition, but because it reflected the strength of our community. The compassion, generosity, and commitment of those who stand beside us make our work possible.

That evening served as a powerful reminder that none of us do this alone.

To everyone who joined us that night, thank you for showing up, cheering loudly, and believing in our mission. We are grateful to the Silver Knights for shining a spotlight on our work and for making it a night we will never forget. We appreciate the Silver Knights for recognizing the importance of community partnerships and for helping elevate the work of local nonprofits.

Go Knights Go!!!  🏒

Love in Action

Love takes many forms. Sometimes it looks like a delivery truck pulling up at just the right time. Sometimes it sounds like a calm, reassuring voice on the phone. Often, it happens quietly and unseen.

Our team responds to calls from seniors and caregivers who need help now, not later, whether delivering essential medical equipment or providing reassurance through a wellness check. These everyday acts of care are how compassion becomes action.

The Heart Behind Every Delivery

Behind every delivery, phone call, and moment of care is a dedicated group of volunteers and staff who give their time, energy, and heart to this work.

Their kindness and commitment are felt in every home we serve. We are deeply thankful for the compassion they bring to seniors and caregivers throughout our community.

Save the Date, May 18th Annual Golf Tournament

We are looking ahead to one of our most meaningful annual events. Our Annual Golf Tournament will be held on May 18th at the beautiful Anthem Country Club.

Early bird registration is now open through March 31st, and we encourage participants and sponsors to reserve their spot early. This event fills quickly, and early registration helps us plan and maximize support for the seniors we serve.
