At the Heart of What We Do
A Monthly Newsletter from Foundation Assisting Seniors
Volume 1, Issue 2, March 2026
A Message from Our President & CEO
As March begins, I’m filled with gratitude for the remarkable team that serves our seniors every day. One of the greatest joys of my role is hearing the compliments that come through our doors and the kind notes we receive. Families frequently tell me how patient and caring our staff members are. Seniors call just to say thank you. Visitors often leave saying how welcomed and respected they felt. I have the privilege of seeing this dedication up close, day after day.
This month we celebrate National Employee Appreciation Day on March 6, and it is the perfect opportunity to recognize the people who bring our mission to life. Every piece of equipment that reaches a senior, every delivery completed, every phone call answered, and every HowRU wellness check made happens because of their commitment and compassion.
Our staff and volunteers show up with open hearts and steady hands. They turn worry into relief. They turn uncertainty into reassurance. They make Foundation Assisting Seniors a place where people feel cared for and understood.
To our wonderful team, thank you for your professionalism, kindness, and warmth. You share so generously with our community. You are truly the heart of everything I am honored to lead.
With gratitude,
Vicki Bertin
President and CEO

Behind the Scenes – Ready Every Day
Equipment is cleaned, organized, and prepared. Calls are returned. Deliveries are scheduled. Follow-ups are made. This steady work ensures we are always ready to respond when a senior or caregiver reaches out for help.
A Moment of Impact
Recently, a wife called with an urgent need for a hospital bed so her husband could return home safely. After being told the bed was required before he could be released, she was stunned to learn that insurance would not cover it. The request was time-sensitive, and within a short time the equipment was delivered and set up, giving her the relief and support she desperately needed. Moments like this remind us why immediate access to equipment matters so much.
The GEM Society – Giving Every Month
In January, Foundation Assisting Seniors introduced the name “GEM Society” to celebrate and recognize our valued monthly supporters. Many of these generous donors have been giving faithfully for years, providing steady, dependable support long before the program had a formal name. GEM stands for Giving Every Month, and members of this program help ensure that help is always available when a Senior needs it.
